ABOUT ANYA VOLZ

Anya Volz is a Brooklyn based comedian, writer, podcaster, event producer and host. She earned an associate's degree in liberal arts from Community College of Vermont at the age of 18 and has never needed to use it since.

COMEDY

Before moving to the city of dreams and a lingering piss smell, Anya began their venture in standup and sketch comedy in Burlington, Vermont at 18. Within their first year they won first runner-up in the annual competition Vermont’s Funniest Comedian, and shortly after was nominated by the readers of Seven Days magazine for Vermont’s Best Standup Comic. Neither of which mean anything but it's important to them that you know about them.

Anya’s performed on comedy festivals around the country including: Green Mountain Comedy Festival, Gilda’s LaughFest, Bird City Comedy Festival, Women In Comedy Festival, Cape Fear Comedy Festival, Burning Bridges Festival, 208 Comedy Festival, Skankfest, Big Pine Comedy Festival, New York Comedy Festival, and has done comedy several years in a row on the music festival FEST.

Anya has been a comedy writer for publications such as The Hard Times, Riot Fest, WICF Daily, and Macaulay Culkin’s Bunny Ears.

You can listen to the podcast they cohost with Nika Sylvain about f*cking up called Best Mistakes — anywhere podcasts can be found.

Among their retired but critically acclaimed* projects are their former podcast IN THE SHWICK OF IT on KPISS.FM and their web series YONIC TONIC. Anya also co-wrote, starred in and executive produced Sex Neutral, a comedic short film exploring the gray areas of sex positivity in a post-monogamous world.
